Trans World Radio-Africa receives letters from our listeners on a regular basis. This letter is from a listener who lives in the mountain kingdom of Lesotho. He requested literature on HIV/AIDS and other topics. He writes:
"I received a copy of your magazine in 1995 when I was at Bible College in Pretoria (South Africa). I was really blessed by what I read, but since then I lost all touch with your ministry. Things are going very well for me in my country, but I am really troubled by the high rate of HIV and AIDS. The issue has touched my heart.
"My concern is that these people who are victims of the disease are well supported materially and financially, but spiritually they have nothing to rely on. They are often given food and clothes, but as the illness progresses and the situation worsens, some are just waiting to die. I am keen to do something for these dear brothers and sisters. I am planning to start a “spiritual centre”, where those who are well enough can come and we can discuss the issue of their salvation. When we talk about the topic of salvation, they are usually receptive. I have already paid some visits to the homes of people who are ill.
Please pray for me as I want be able to understand God’s guidance in this matter."
According to USAID statistics, Lesotho has the fourth highest rate of HIV prevalence in the world. Nearly one in three Basotho adults (ages 15 - 49) are now infected with HIV/AIDS. The government of Lesotho has taken concrete actions to address the epidemic by declaring HIV/AIDS a national disaster. Thank God for this TWR listener who recognised the spiritual needs of those who are faced with this epidemic. Let us pray for him as he ministers Christ to those who are going into eternity.
