Extending the Reach

Across most of Africa, radio is the most widely used form of communicating information.  TWR wishes to reach people as many people as possible with the gospel, including those who live in remote areas who may have radios but have not heard about Jesus.  Building new FM stations, upgrading existing stations and studios, and distributing radios are part of our plan to extend the reach of TWR across all of Africa.

  • A new FM repeater just north of Maputo will enable listeners in the Limpopo flood plains to receive a clear signal.

  • Radio and MP3 player distribution projects in Angola and Mozambique are giving more people the chance to hear God’s Word.

  • Installing new generators in our studios in Maputo and Nairobi will prevent the disruption of production and listeners missing portions of broadcasts in the case of power failures.

Mocuba FM Station & Studio - Phase 2 & 3

Although the Church played an important role in ending Mozambique's civil war, political instability, the aftermath of war and a general lack of infrastructure have made it extremely difficult for missionaries to reach the Lomwe people of Mozambique. A largely oral culture, many of the believers and potential Christian leaders cannot read or write. Therefore, these individuals need to learn the Scriptures through the spoken word in their own language and cultural mindset. Most in the Mocuba district of Mozambique have little or no access to the Word of God in any form.

TWR's broadcasts into Mozambique have seen an incredible number of people come to Jesus Christ in the past 15 years. With the first phase completed, TWR is now working toward Phase 2, which seeks to upgrade office and studio equipment, as well as purchase a generator and UPS electricity backup system amid regular power outages. After this is completed, workers will move into Phase 3, getting the FM station on the air to Mocuba, where currently no Christian FM stations are broadcasting. With this vital tool built in the middle of Mocuba's highly populated district, TWR hopes to create programs and follow-up correspondence tailor-made to the needs of the area.

Please prayerfully consider a gift of R100.00 to help speak the Word of God into the lives of men, women and children in Mozambique.

Kenya FM Initiative

In the wake of unrest and riots in recent years, Kenyans face uncertainty on every side. This reality is leading many to seek answers and solutions to the problems surrounding them. Radio is the most widely used communication tool in Kenya. A substantial number of Kenyans have access to radio, their primary source of media information and entertainment.

TWR-Africa has long hoped for a network of radio stations reaching listeners throughout Kenya. This has been made possible through the acquisition of seven frequencies for FM broadcasting in outlying areas of Kenya, which will include several remote towns in the northern and eastern parts of the country where no Christian broadcasting currently takes place. Some of these towns are home to refugees who have fled from war-torn parts of East Africa. Many have experienced extreme hardship. Through FM radio, TWR has an open door for extended ministry in Kenya.

Known on the air as “Sifa,” which means “praise” in Swahili, TWR-Kenya's network produces more than 35 different programmes, with over 60 hours of programming aired weekly.

Please prayerfully consider a contribution of R100.00 toward this project to reach the people of Kenya with God's Word.
