Mozambique has the world’s fifth highest rate of people living with HIV/AIDS. A prolonged civil war has left the infrastructure in ruins and the government is slowly rebuilding the economy.
Poverty is rampant and meeting daily needs is a struggle for many people. TWR broadcasts to Mozambique on short wave from Swaziland and has an FM station and studios in Maputo and a studio in Mocuba.
- There are many listener groups for Project Hannah’s Words of Hope. Project Hannah prayer groups are active throughout the country.
- TWR’s radio distribution and wind-up MP3 player projects have enabled many more people to hear the gospel.
- Radio Trans Mundial-Mozambique produces 20 programmes in seven languages.

Mocuba FM Station & Studio - Phase 2 & 3 |
Although the Church played an important role in ending Mozambique's civil war, political instability, the aftermath of war and a general lack of infrastructure have made it extremely difficult for missionaries to reach the Lomwe people of Mozambique. A largely oral culture, many of the believers and potential Christian leaders cannot read or write. Therefore, these individuals need to learn the Scriptures through the spoken word in their own language and cultural mindset. Most in the Mocuba district of Mozambique have little or no access to the Word of God in any form.
TWR's broadcasts into Mozambique have seen an incredible number of people come to Jesus Christ in the past 15 years. With the first phase completed, TWR is now working toward Phase 2, which seeks to upgrade office and studio equipment, as well as purchase a generator and UPS electricity backup system amid regular power outages. After this is completed, workers will move into Phase 3, getting the FM station on the air to Mocuba, where currently no Christian FM stations are broadcasting. With this vital tool built in the middle of Mocuba's highly populated district, TWR hopes to create programs and follow-up correspondence tailor-made to the needs of the area.
Please prayerfully consider a gift of $100 to help speak the Word of God into the lives of men, women and children in Mozambique.

Maputo FM Repeater Station |
For several people who live in the Mozambican capital city, Maputo, life has taken a positive turn since they started listening to the broadcasts of Trans World Radio. TWR-Mozambique was established in Maputo in 1989 and currently operates with a staff complement of 35 people.
Radio Trans Mundial-Mozambique produces 20 programmes in seven languages, most of them broadcasted by Radio Capital in Maputo and community radios in Vilankulu, Homoine, Nampula, Sussundenga, Xai-Xai, Mocuba and Radio Pax-Beira.
The population of Maputo is estimated at around 1,2 million people (the actual population could be much higher because of the informal settlements around the city). These people are able to get a clear radio signal from the TWR transmitter in Maputo, however in the outlying areas the signal is not always as distinct. The TWR Maputo FM Repeater Project aims to erect a FM transmitter north of the city of Maputo which will extend the reach of the TWR FM station in Maputo into the Limpopo flood plains reaching cities like Xai-Xai. For the people who live in these distant regions, this could possibly mean the start of a life-changing experience when they are able to pick up the TWR radio signal.

TWR Maputo Studio Upgrade |
In many developing countries, regular power failures are an everyday occurrence. Trans World Radio’s current FM signal and recording studios in Mozambique’s capital city of Maputo are frequent victims of power outages, causing listeners to miss large portions of the broadcasts and disrupting production of new programmes. Acoustics in the station’s studios are also below standard, lessening the quality of our much-needed Christian broadcasts to Maputo’s over one million official inhabitants, as well as the those living in slums and settlements around the city. Those who live in these makeshift homes often rely on radio as their only access to mass media.
To improve the quality and reliability of broadcasts from Maputo, Mozambique’s Christian FM station, TWR wants to provide the funds to bring personnel to the studio, install acoustical tiles, silent-running air conditioning systems, a generator and UPS backup systems for the computer equipment. With these additions, listeners will have greater opportunities to hear the Word of God when they need it most and be attracted to the spoken Word through professional-level programming.
Please prayerfull consider a gift of $75 or more to ensure that the gospel of Jesus Christ is preached uninterrupted to an audience hungry and thirsty for the Word of God.
