With annual rainfall decreasing, Africa’s agriculture is nearing a crisis point. In less than 20 years, some African countries could lose up to half of their crop yields, severely reducing the food available to a region already suffering from malnutrition and food security problems.* Too often, farmers are undereducated about sustainable agriculture and live hand to mouth on land that could produce far more than it yields.
Another humanitarian crisis coming to the attention of the world is the thousands of African people dying from diseases like cholera, which could be prevented by safe drinking water and working sanitation systems. Even those in developed cities are infected and die when government infrastructures fail, giving way to a daily struggle to survive.
Desiring to minister to the whole person, TWR is producing radio programmes like Managing Your Environment, to help African listeners understand the need for clean water, sanitation and sustainable farming methods, as well as practical ways to provide these safer living conditions to their families and communities. Managing Your Environment will be aired in African English, French, Swahili and Portuguese to bring life-saving knowledge to thousands.
A gift of $130 could fund the airtime for one episode of Managing Your Environment. A gift of $177 would be a tremendous blessing to Africa’s suffering and needy.
